Our Mission

In recent years the South Arm community has worked diligently to develop a clear sense of both its mission and the Core Values that shape our understanding of how that mission will be carried out. Now several years old, the Mission Statement and Core Values which follow will be revisited in the near future, if only because these are living, breathing documents. If you see your understanding reflected here, perhaps God is inviting you to further discipleship in Christ with us at South Arm United.

As South Arm United Church We are Called to:

The people of God at South Arm have always had a heart for reaching out to express God’s love and compassion to others. Outreach is a profound commitment for us. Along with our significant contributions to The United Church of Canada’s national Mission and Service Fund (which financially supports many congregations, theological colleges/students, United Church Outreach ministries across the country and United Church partners around the world), the community of South Arm United Church is active in supporting the work of First United Church in Vancouver’s downtown eastside, engaging in a Walk-the-Talk programme which brings freshly-made sandwiches and refreshments to the hungry in the same area, raising funds and foodstuffs for The Richmond Food Bank, and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for many different community groups in our facility. One of our most recent initiatives is investing in Oikocredit, a programme which offers a hand up out of poverty.
